We come across the topic of Sustainability every day, making it an increasingly common topic. But do you know how to apply it? Sustainability in your home ?
This term is directly linked to the idea of using something without compromising its ability to be consumed by other people and future generations.
Basically, it's simple: being sustainable means using and caring for something so that the next person who uses it doesn't run out, thus forming a chain of solidarity that seeks to preserve the environment in the best possible way.
We can apply this way of thinking and being in life, through very simple habits that will certainly make all the difference in the near future. And it is with a view to a more practical present and a brighter future, that VIVA Store offers you functional solutions with environmental sustainability in mind.
Get inspired by the following images and discover the 10 tips we have for you:
1 – Reduce your consumption of bottled water, opt for glass bottles:
Whether you want to drink at home or take it with you, opt for glass bottles. At Loja Viva you will find a wide range of bottles and jugs, with or without lids and in various capacities, with which you can keep your water at room temperature or store it in the fridge.
2 – Separate household waste:
Ideally, try to manage your waste production by opting for reusable objects. Also choose different bins to separate waste and packaging. You can creatively customize each bin to identify each type of waste. As you know, blue is for cardboard and paper, green for glass and yellow for plastic and metal.
3 – Reduce waste:
When buying food or other items, think about whether you really need them and how much of them you need in your daily life. This will help you avoid regrets, unnecessary expenses and waste.
4 – Enjoy water with Beverage Dispensers:
Have you heard of this trick? It’s so simple to do and it makes a huge difference, both to your water bill and to your ecological footprint. When you shower, pour the water that’s still heating into a Drink Dispenser. This way, you can use the cold water to wash your teeth, hands and face. At the VIVA Store, you’ll find several options for this item, which is super practical thanks to its little tap that lets you control the amount of water you need.
5 – Choose glass containers:
In an attempt to reduce plastic packaging, choose to store your food in glass jars and boxes. Whether you want to store it in the fridge, in the pantry or to take it with you to work, glass containers are super practical, more hygienic and more environmentally friendly. You can also start making your yogurts in larger quantities, for example, and take them with you to work. This way, you avoid buying yogurts in plastic containers.
6 – Not all plastic is bad:
If you choose plastic, choose quality plastic, with greater resistance and durability. At VIVA Store you will find several food storage or storage solutions, made of extremely resistant and highly durable plastic, and which adapt to the Decor so that they fit in with your Home and your life for much longer. This way, you buy less often, and when you do buy, you buy something nice and of good quality :)
7 – Give objects a new life:
Be creative. If your kitchen trolley is no longer useful in the kitchen, why not transfer it to the bathroom to store toilet paper rolls and towels? And if your plastic boxes are no longer useful for storing food, use them to store buttons or small objects. The same goes for jars, which can be used to store food or to hold pens or cotton buds. There is an endless list of ways you can reinvent the objects you already have without having to throw them away straight away.
8 – If it no longer works for you, it may work for others:
This is a very important attitude, but difficult to implement. After all, we tend to get attached to the objects we have. Be strong and work on your mindset and collaborative consumption :) Donate everything you no longer use. In addition to avoiding unnecessary accumulation of objects in your home, you will also help someone else. Be supportive!
9 – Choose lights with lower consumption:
Take responsibility for making changes in your home or office. Help raise awareness among others about how to save energy. Whenever possible, replace conventional light bulbs with more efficient ones, such as LED bulbs. Turn off lights when you leave a room and, whenever possible, keep electrical appliances unplugged. If possible, opt for renewable energy sources such as solar panels.
10 – Choose natural materials:
Choose objects made from sustainable materials, such as wood, cotton, jute, rattan, banana leaves, wicker, etc. You can find these materials in rugs, benches, baskets, placemats, bath towels, lampshades and many others. They have been a huge trend in decoration for the last few seasons and it seems that this trend is here to stay. We hope so!
